One Year Later

It has been an amazing yet trying year...

Let's revisit this time last year to gain some perspective...

Sunday November 2, 2008
- Ran the NYC Marathon on no training and had a great time.

Monday November 3, 2008 - Sore and in pain form the marathon; go to work and get laid off; go home to tell my 9-month pregnant wife that I lost my job.

Thursday November 6, 2008 - My son is born!

So, I now refer to the Monday after the NYC Marathon as BLACK Monday, not only due to my personal issues with the day, but as a day that sees many New Yorkers hobbling around from the race, dealing with the post-race/training hangover and adjusting to the time change; it is just a bizarre day around the city.

This year I did not run the marathon and instead did nothing and made it through BLACK Monday with no issues.

It has been a solid few weeks getting back into training as I'm taking it very easy and not pushing myself too hard.

I'm really looking forward to my son's first birthday on Friday and the weeks ahead. I sense that I'm about to turn the corner on my career and life in NYC.

Off to ride the bike as I feel some competition soon coming from within the family (as soon as he can reach the pedals)!
